Dosing pumps

Postby jhanover on Tue Feb 16, 2010 12:02 am

Any suggestions on a dosing pump (for Alk and Ca)? I hear good things about the ones at Bulk Reef Supply...but they are out of stock.

One of these days i will post a tank pic to get suggestions, but not today (too much real work to take care of tonight!)

I have heard good things about theirs too.

Do you have an auto top off? I add my calcuim and alkalinity supplements, Mrs. Wages pickling lime, to my RO/DI water that I put in my auto top off container.

Interesting idea but how do you know how much to put in to the top off water? Seems like that would be tough to figure out.

I started off with one teaspoon per gallon of RO/DI water. I then tested my tank. Eventually, I have to add 1 1/2 teaspoon of Mrs. Wages per gallon of RO/DI water. Using that method, I have not had to add any other supplements in months. In fact several members of my club ended up using this method too.

I do have some small bottles of 2 part on hand in case I have to adjust calcium or alkalinity separately since Mrs. Wages raises both of them. But like I said above, the seal is still on both bottles.

Litermeter III; a bit expensive but darned good, and configurable to just about anything you want to do.
