I have a ridiculous plan for my 55 gallon aquarium that's sure to fail. Once I've tried it and it's failed, I'll explain, but for now, it's between me and the voices in my head. The trick for this plan is that I need my aquarium stand to be about 4 inches taller than it is. I've seen enough DIY stands on the net with detailed instructions that I'm confident I could do it. I'm also confident that it would take FOREVER and would involve a lot of swearing and possibly higher blood pressure for life. Short of building or buying another stand, is there any way I could make it taller? I was thinking of placing the stand on appropriately-sized pieces of wood, but something smells a little off about the idea, probably because I could look at an umbrella and convince myself that if I jump off a roof while holding it, it will work like a parachute and I will float gently to the ground like a masculine Mary Poppins. It doesn't need to be attractive, as the stand won't be visible, but it does need to work, and obviously the cheaper and easier, the better. I appreciate any ideas...especially good ones, as that's where I typically come up short.
