Knight Gobies

Sometimes underappreciated and often misunderstood, Brackish tanks and fish species pose unique fishkeeping possibilities.

Hello all,

I needed a good chuckle, thanks.
He is not dyed, 50/50 actinic lighting in tank caused that.
Here he is after i redyed him white with speckles. LOL They have chromataphores (pigmented cells) in their skin for
camoflage and he changes to this sand color when I change the water, he is hiding. SHHH

The apistos are fine because they were at the LFS in the same water for about a month or two before I decided to give them a home.
I have had a problem with territory, there are two left, a male and a female. I had three males and gave them all their own houses and blocked their views wth driftwood but they need more room. I would try a bigger tank with this many next time.

Glad you got a chuckle because here comes another one. I googled Blue Flounder, Blue Spotted Flounder and dyed flounder and nothing  So I'm glad you cleared it up and posted another picture. 8-)

He is a fascinating looking fish. How big is he?

Nice dye job on the flouder. :)
I can imagine you had some agression between the Apistos with that combination. They actually do much better in a harem type combination. ie: 1 male and 3 females.
Nice to know they can be acclimated to a higher ph.

Hello,

The FW flounder is about and 1 1/4" and has grown that 1/4" in my tank. I add some salt to the tank at random times.
The flounder needs salt as it grows, the idea being acclimation over time to reach 1.023 specific gravity and put the flounder into the 180 Marine.
The flounder grows up in a brackish enviornment as it flows down the river to end up in the ocean.
The flounder eats well and is a great addition to the community.
Thanks for all the interest, the FW flounder is just as interested some times.
